WGN Radio's Hometown Voices Tour visits the Memorial Opera House Friday, June 6, 2008 at 1pm.
WGN Radio's Hometown Voices Tour with Host, John Williams, visits to the Memorial Opera House Friday, June 6, 2008 at 1pm til 4pm. The general public is invited to come be a part of the studio audience. There is no charge. There is limited seating.
The WGN Radio Hometown Voices Tour kicked off in September of 2005. Each month they select a different community in their listening area and highlight what makes that community special. John Williams' upcoming broadcast in Valparaiso will be the 35th stop on the tour.
In considering possible Hometown Voices locations, they look at where they have been and where they haven't, in addition to what makes that town unique or interesting, including its history, special events going on at the time, whether or not it's a growing area, etc. The Hometown Voices committee makes the decision based on all these elements.
One component of the broadcast is the Hometown Hero award. In the weeks leading up to the broadcast, we ask our listeners to nominate someone in the community that has served the community in a special way, and then honor that person on-air during the show. Jewel-Osco, sponsor of the Hometown Voices Tour, awards the Hometown Hero a $500 gift card for their efforts.

6th and we're asking you to help us find a Hometown Hero!
As part of the Hometown Voices Tour presented by Jewel-Osco, WGN Radio is selecting a "Hometown Hero" each month. If you know someone in Valparaiso that you would like to nominate, tell us why this person should be chosen as a Hometown Hero. Entries should be emailed, along with your name, age, address, and telephone number, to
hometownvoices@wgnradio.com Please include your nominee's full name, age, address, telephone number and email address as well. Entries must be submitted by noon on Wednesday, June 4th. If we select the person
you've nominated as Hometown Hero, he or she will be honored live at the WGN Radio Hometown Voices broadcast at the Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso on June 6th from 1-4pm with midday host John Williams. In addition, the Hometown Hero will be presented with a $500 gift certificate to Jewel-Osco.
