Husband and Wife team up with Always…Patsy Cline at the Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso.
Mary Kay Steele (LaPorte) will play the legendary country singer; Pasty Cline and husband, Peter Steele (LaPorte) will play piano for her as they team up together on stage in Always…Patsy Cline at the Memorial Opera House in Valparaiso.
Mary Kay Steel is no stranger to stages throughout Northwest Indiana for the past 20 years. She has been seen in many productions in Michigan City at the Footlight Theatre as well as LaPorte Little Theatre. She began her musical career in her backyard singing on her swing set.
Mary Kay is the children's choir director at the Presbyterian Church in LaPorte. She and her husband Peter are also the leaders of the praise team at First United Methodist Church. Mary Kay is the "me" in Me and the Boys, a 40's style musical group which plays big band/swing and jazz.
Always,Patsy Cline is more than a tribute to the legendary country singer who died tragically at age 30 in a plane crash in 1963. The show is based on a true story about Cline's friendship with a fan from Houston named Louise Seger, who befriended the star in a Texas honky-tonk in l961, and continued a correspondence with Cline until her death. Louise Seger is portrayed by Michele Craig of Chesterton.
The musical play, complete with down home country humor, true emotion and even some audience participation, includes many of Patsy' unforgettable hits such as Crazy, I Fall to Pieces, Sweet Dreams and Waking After Midnight…27 songs in all. The show's title was inspired by Cline's letters to Seger, which were consistently signed "Love ALWAYS... Patsy Cline."
